With 10,000 members, Afestel is the largest platform for those affected by the factory defect of Puretech engines in Spain.
Established as a non-profit association, its mission is to raise awareness about the issue and help all those affected to be compensated for the damages suffered.

In the absence of a response from Stellantis to owners experiencing issues with Puretech engines, a group of previously unknown individuals has decided to collaborate selflessly to provide support to the hundreds of people who regularly seek help on social media and forums.
After months of work, the group of affected people had already exceeded 1.000 members. Repeated attempts had been made to seek an amicable solution with Stellantis, but the company had turned a deaf ear.
After several months of interviews with different law firms, the group reaches an agreement with Christian Delgado to represent "on a success basis" their over 2.000 associates.
After reaching 4.000 members, discussions begin between Christian Diaz and the legal team of Stellantis Spain in order to reach a negotiated solution to the problem.
The negotiations continue and in the absence of concrete responses, AFESTEL calls for a first demonstration in Vigo, which is attended by hundreds of people.
AFESTEL reaches 6.000 members and calls for a massive demonstration in Barcelona. We managed to get media outlets from all over Spain to spread the news.
Hundreds of vehicles with faulty Puretech engines staged a slow march through the city of Zaragoza on 12th December demanding solutions from Stellantis.
The last demonstration of the year 2024 was held in Madrid. Without a doubt, the demonstration with the highest number of participants. Hundreds of vehicles paraded along the Castellana escorted by the national police.
Everywhere in Spain is already aware of the Puretech engine issue, media outlets, social networks, radio, and television are starting to spread the news and AFESTEL begins to receive hundreds of weekly requests. On January 1st, we surpassed the 7.000 members.
An important milestone, but there is still a lot of work to do. There are over 700,000 affected vehicles that deserve a solution.
Given Stellantis' passivity, we have filed over 100 conciliation claims at Stellantis headquarters.
The courts in Vigo are starting to accept the cases and we will face each other during the first quarter of 2025.
The legal advisory negotiations of AFESTEL with Stellantis have enabled the opening of a specific process to handle refund requests for defective PureTech engines.
Stellantis has set up an exclusive platform to assist all those affected, and AFESTEL partners will receive a faster service in this process.
